Support Your Local Butcher!

By now, you may know that the Carnivorous Bastards call the Cincinnati area home.

We're very fortunate to have several great butcher shops in the Cincinnati region. If you're from the area, or visiting, we hope you will support any of these fine establishments, which are favorites of ours for meaty treats and other goods!

DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI

Avril Bleh

https://www.avril-blehmeats.com/

"Avril's" holds a special place in our tender Bastards' hearts. Its a place that our grandfathers spoke about going to when they were kids, and a place that we go for some carefully cut meats, authentic crafted sausages or that magic 'Zips' blend ground beef. #iykyk

A fixture to Cincinnati since 1894, Avril Bleh Meat Market is one part step back in time, one part neighborhood gem and several parts awesome.

Here's hoping places like Avril's stay around for another 125 years!

Findlay Market

https://www.findlaymarket.org/

Findlay Market dates back to 1855 and is Ohio's oldest continuously operated open air market. Surrounded by 19th century architecture and a revitalized Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, Findlay Market is home to more than 120 merchants in peak season.

When we're shopping proteins at Findlay, we're stopping by LK for sausage or checking the stocked cases at Country Meat Co or Ecklerin Meats

Findlay is one of those places to slow down and get inspired by the stories and products of local farmers and artisans. Its a must-stop when visiting downtown Cincinnati.

EAST

Lehr's

https://www.lehrsprime.com/

If you've heard word of mouth about Lehr's its probably about their high quality meats. But this is a place that has the surrounding elements that truly make this an excellent neighborhood market. Friendly customer service, fresh and local ingredients, great craft beer, wine and liquor department. You really can find most of what you want at Lehr's.

With a loyal neighborhood following since 1960, Lehr's is one of those local places we like to support.

Hyde Park Meats

Ever like going places that are friendly and inviting... yeah, even us Bastards too! The staff at Hyde Park Meats is one of the first things you think about if you have ever visited their store. Hyde Park Meats reminds us of the places that we grew up going to as kids and that our parents still trust for careful attention to their orders.

Redden

A newer independently operated establishment, Redden burst on the scene in 2020 with a knack for great meats and prepared foods. Still not sure there is a better twice baked potato in the city! Pair it with a great steak, pork chop or fresh seafood.

Redden is another classic meat market that will get you out the door with some accompanying local ingredients and great service.

NORTH AND OTHER AREAS

Jungle Jim's

https://junglejims.com/

As much as we would love to talk about the Bengals and their Jungle, Jungle Jim's is a unique food lover's international market that is something you have to see in person to believe.

With two locations, Jungle Jim's caters to whatever kind of food fanatic you are. The hard to source international products make Jungle Jim's great, but there are sections like their rub, spice and hot sauce section that are fun for us Bastards to spend some time.

And time you will need if you make a first-time visit! But Jungle Jim's is one of those treasures of Cincinnati that we highly recommend visiting!

Wyoming Meat Market

https://www.wyomingmeatmarket.org/

Now, we can't claim to have visited Wyoming Meat Market much, but from what we have heard from the community, this is a neighborhood asset. Under newer ownership, their social media posts have us with the #meatsweats on the regular, and its a place we will be visiting when we need some Wagyu or dry aged cuts!
